Vendor Certification

Media Scanner™ identifies, analyzes and documents all vendors executing on your public-facing website

Managing a website isn't as easy as you think. Considering more than 78% of the code executing on enterprise websites is from third-parties, IT/ website operations departments cannot truly control what renders on a visitor’s browser. This inability to identify and authorize vendor activity exposes your business to data leakage, privacy violations and performance issues.

Do you know how many third-party vendors and domains execute on your site each day, week or month? Do you track their activity and do you know the purpose of all companies and code? Do you know when their activity flouts company-designed and government-mandated policies? Didn’t think so.

Media Scanner™ for Vendor Certification
Powered by The Media Trust’s proprietary website and ad tag monitoring technology, Media Scanner for Vendor Certification provides you with real-time insight and control over the third-party vendors executing on your website. As an add on to Media Scanner for Malware Protection, this service identifies, analyzes and reports on the vendors, domains, data trading partners, and data tracking elements present on your public-facing digital properties and issues real-time alerts if the vendor activity is malicious. Once detected, these vendors are assigned to internal departments for approval, thereby providing an audit trail for all vendor activity.

An easy-to-use dashboard provides a high-level view of the vendors requiring approval by one of several internal departments involved in the website’s operation—typically a combination of security, IT, operations, marketing and legal—which then approve, prohibit or refer to another department for authorization. The dashboard also flags malicious activity associated with a specific vendor and/or the vendor’s activity.

How Vendor Certification works
A SaaS-based service, Media Scanner for Vendor Certification scans your website on a continuous, 24/7 basis to detect malware and identify all vendors—third, fourth and sometimes fifth-party vendors—executing on your site. In real-time, this service alerts you on active malware incidents, captures and categorizes each vendor and its associated domains, and notifies you to new vendor activity.

Clients can also drill down into a vendor listing to see all domains used by the vendor, when first detected, the internal department authorizing the vendor, and web execution call chain. Upon detection of unsanctioned vendor presence or malware, web teams can select the unauthorized domain and share it with the serving party to block it from execution.

From a large array of servers located in 500 cities spread across six continents, the service utilizes a multitude of browsers/OS, geography and user behavioral combinations to deliver a truly unique client-side monitoring solution.

Customized reporting and alerts
Every service supported by Media Scanner provides you and your team with robust alert and reporting engines, which enable instant, real-time alerting and notification as well as reports detailing site activity generated daily, weekly or any client-defined frequency and distribution. The solution is also able to export issues directly to your upstream partners, which speeds the resolution of the issue quickly and efficiently.
